He commented on what a gentleman Blakken was to trim, and how perfectly shaped and correctly angled his feet were, although a bit long, he had been on his journey for 3 months and was never trimmed during that time. Our farrier said, "Well, you know they had a good farrier in Finland doing this horse, his feet are just about perfect."
I wrote to our Finnish friends to compliment Blakken's good manners and correctly trimmed feet, only to be told that Blakken did not have his feet trimmed. The rocky ground kept his feet strong and hard, and wore them down evenly, so he did not have to be trimmed.
