I have one long-forelocked mare and to my eye she doesn't look so attractive when I can't see her eyes. So I just pull her forelock until it's above her eyes. Doing this also lightens it up the forelock so it sort of "puffs up". I think she looks so much better. I only have to do every two months or so.
