This message is from: Anneli Sundkvist <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> We haven't got heathed water buckets, but have a simplier way of making it more pleasant for the horses to drink at least twice a day: when the horses are let out in the morning the large bucket in the field are filled up with WARM water. When it's cold we use the same system in the barn: the person who are responsible for letting the horses in that day fill all the buckets up with warm water.
Of course the horses can drink as much cold water they want during their day in the field or the night in the stall. But since we started to give them this 'canned grass-fodder' (can anyone please enlighten me about the English name? It comes in big, (white) plastic bags of c. 1200 pounds or so) we've noticed that all the horses drink much less, probably because there's much more water in this fodder than in normal hay. About straw: I've always learned that it's okay to feed horses the straw that comes from oats and barley, but that you should avoid the straw from rye and wheat. Why? Don't know, have used straw very little...anyone have any opinions on this? Regards Anneli
