This message is from: Lori Puster <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Since it came up under the "Smooching" post, just how common is it for foals to bite?
Freyja, at about a week old, started biting me everytime I'm not looking directly at her. And I do mean constantly, even when she's just been corrected, she's back trying a few seconds later. I've taken to grabbing her by the upper lip if I see it coming, and this seems to have disuaded her some, but she's still very nippy. Also, she's started to kick as well. I think she just wants to play and because she's and only foal she "plays" with us. She's very "handleable"--likes people, lets us touch her absolutely everywhere, likes to be skratched/touched, stands pressed up againsts us, comes when called, and in general is very sweet. But it's gotten to where I wouldn't want anyone else near her if I wasn't there to immediately intervene. Will she probably stop doing this when she gets a little older, or is there some technique that will help break her of this? Lori P.
