Today, a very good friend of mine, and of all horses and drivers has left us. My good driving buddy & CDE groom,(and frequent Turlock volunteer), Charlene Margesson just phoned me with the news of Frank's passing. We met Frank 11 years ago at a CDE. Frank was just there to observe, and was giving some incredible sensitive and insightful comments on dressage day. By the next day, he had been recruited to do the safety check at the start of the marathon, and was so kind and tactful, no matter what harnessing disaster came his way.

Earlier today,Frank had just finished a good work with a pair, and had come into the house to sit a spell, and apparently passed away quietly in a roomfull of people. Things happen...

I am very lucky that Frank chose to make an impromptu 2 day visit here last month to the ranch, where we hooked my mare Alycia for the 1st time. He really liked her allot, but then he's really liked all of Sven's kids he had to work with: he fell in love with Catherine Lasssen's Blamann, whom he trained for her, and Dave and Pat Schumaker's gelding, Arnie, and of course Mr. Sven himself, whom he drove on occasion and made me jealous, as he got some beautiful lenghtenings out of the old bugger! Frank was in great spirits, and seemingly good health, and he told me he was very enthusiastic about the new prospects he had coming to his barn in B.C. for training. Before he left, he gave me an inscribed copy of his just-published book on driving.I will cherish it and enjoy it, along with all the fond memories of being able to work with Frank.

I know many of you on this list will remember him fondly as well.

Night all.
