This message is from: "Deb Williams" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I understand your concerns and they are quite valid. There was a terrible accident at a county fair a couple of years back. There were bears performing in an enclosure mere yards away from the horse arena. there had been some minor spooks from riding horses when they growled but not anything too upsetting. Then came the draft horse hitches 6 teams in the ring, when one team decided they were not comfortable with the bears proximity and bolted. They had been a quiet team and "had seen the world". Several people had to think fast to keep the entire ring from coming apart. When the dust settled 1 man was dead, 2 severely injured, wagons and harnesses broken and damaged. However, the exotic animal man may be ok and you can work with him. Remember this is how many non-horsey people see our horses coming into their community. Maybe if this person were approached friendly like and explained the concerns. It would certainly be a great de spooking clinic opportunity!
