This message is from: "The Mercers" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi everyone,
We are facing a possible dilemma at our riding club and I wondered if any of you could add your experiences to help us out. The landowner across from our saddle club grounds has purchased a camel and intends to start breeding them. The camel can be seen and heard and smelled from much of the saddle club grounds and is directly across the street from where exhibitors and members park there trailers for shows and other functions. The landowner has requested a rule change for the county regulations to permit camels and other exotic/zoo animals. Current regulations permit livestock, which includes horses, cows, sheep, pigs, and fowl. The saddle club is very concerned about horse responses to the camel and other potential exotics/zoo animals along with any liability the saddle club may assume if an accident/injury occurs due to the camel (or any future exotics/zoo animals). They feel the camel and others animals pose a threat while exhibitors/members work and show their horses on the grounds. Can anyone help me out with some input from current/past experiences? Thanks, Taffy Mercer
