Not really weird at all Mary. The "Old" Destron chips were a lower frequency than the newer ones are. They changed the frequency to be able to use a less power hungry (smaller) scanner like the newer ones are. The old style Destron scanner will read both the old & new frequency Destron chips. Of course it won't read the Avid or the ISO style unfortunately.
