I would have to agree with Sarah, taking the dog for short car trips BEFORE
the trip is a really good way to acclimate him/her to travel.   We moved last
year from CA to MI and brought with us in our truck:  my husband and I, three
kids (ages 6, 4 and 1) two cockatiels, 1 cat and two large German Shepherds.
We were very lucky that they were good travelers and excellent hotel guests.
The first day they were pretty excited about the 'car' ride, but by the 4th I
don't think so anymore!  by the way we did our trip in 4 days.
