Green Horn Question:
If one has bought an already registered fjord (such as SNF Mirakel) does the
new owner need to re-register, or do anything else?!
The way it is supposed to work is the previous owner sends in the
Transfer Report to me & I update the records here & then print you a
new Certificate with your name on it & mail it to you. That is what
was done in your case by Neil & Ruth Sorum. Some breeders just give
the Certificate to the new owner & let them deal with the
paperwork. This is NOT a good way to do it. Sometimes the papers
never get sent in & we lose track of who owns the horse. Another
problem with not doing the Transfer when the horse is sold is that
the horse is still registered to the previous owner and it could be a
problem with liability if something were to happen.
You can become an NFHR member if you want to. That would keep you up
to date on all of the events etc we have going on. You receive the
Fjord Herald as a part of the membership.
To become an NFHR member all you need to do is fill out the form at
the following link & send it to the address on the form. I will get
you all set up.
