First time in my 20yrs. of having horses and in all the moving we've done from
a military life, and I had a horse shod Tuesday and saw right away a high nail
in it....A young guy but came recommended by a really good farrier that he'd
been working with....I'm sure "accidents" happen, but now my horse is
LAME....Just happened this Tuesday, had him pull the shoe off and sent him on
his way....Was the first time using this guy and his personality is very
lacking so I'd already decided after trimming one pony,he wouldn't be the
farrier for me....It would be like taking your children to a pediatrician that
didn't like kids...ANYWAY! I'm sure it can't be an abcess at this early in
the game, right....He was sore Tuesday, started soaking him in epsom salt
right away....wrapped with ichthamol....talked to the vet yesterday, put him
on antibiotics just to be safe....He's like a pup with a sore front
foot....Never had this happen to me so any advice, what I can expect....
thanks....Debby
