My neighbor had to seal hers.  Whenever she keeps horses in stalls all day
due to rain and soggy pastures, they start chewing the walls.  She used
chew-stop material, but I believe even plain paint helps.

I have a similiar situation, with tounge-in-groove stalls.  I've left the 
wood unsealed mostly out of laziness, but I justify it by professing 
ignorance.  I too would welcome anyone's suggestions.
