Linda,
Many years ago, I had a horse attacked by a cougar and the claw marks left behind were larger, with about an inch between claw marks, one set on top of horses back, the other along his side and flank. In the horses flight, he ran thru a barb wire fence which did serious damage to his hind leg... An old retired trapper surmised it was a full-grown tom. It's hard to know what exactly happened to your mare, thankfully she's okay!!

Hi Fjord Lovers;

I need some suggestions:

Does anyone have an idea of what the heck could have attacked her?

We have Bear, Wolves, Cougar, Coyote, Eagles and Mountian Lion in the area
