I favored the old, yet I concede there is room for improvement, and maybe if there is widespread dissatisfaction.. it's time for an upgrade.
I believe a poll should have been taken on preferences BEFORE it was crafted and finalized, there are several artists in the breed with valuable input. Or, it is a common practice to have an artist draft a few to chose from, rather than one. I've long noticed that the horses heads on the old logo were facing the wrong direction, when they should have faced center page, rather than staring off into space =)) I also like the clean lines of the horses on the new logo, and while dividing them between riding and driving may be more equitable, it looks strange somehow. What about a Fjord head without tack, and a foal's head alongside? I already wrote Mike and brought to his attention a rule of thumb in graphic circles, that capital letters with serifs are less desireable (as per the current logo). I also think that an overall oval shape is better than the squared off bottom--with lettering in swag shape as before, but maybe lose the ribbon ends. I don't like the filligree on the new either.
