All my Fjordhorses seem to dapple at some (but not all) times of the year. The time I notice it most frequently is in early fall, after I do the first body-clip of the winter season. About a week later I will start to notice the dapples. It looks really nice and always garners compliments and questions ("how do you get their coat so nice and dappled?") to which I smile mysteriously and reply "good horsemanship" although the real answer is "I have no idea".
