This is a condition when a horse is castrated that fluid runs into the scrotum sac and although they are gelded, they look like stallions since the sack is filled with fluid. This occurs over several months. It is only cosmetic and does not harm the animal, but people will question if indeed the horse is a gelding. My veterinarian used the new Henderson castration implement to do several horses for me over the past couple of years and two of my horses have developed this. I cannot get anyone to say that this implement contributed to this condition (I am sure they think I want to file a lawsuit), but this condition is quite rare in gelding horses. Since I have two, seems a bit suspicious to me. My local veterinarian is not going to use it anymore regardless. This implement has been used on literally hundreds of horsesI took the horses to the Vet Med School to be sure they were not developing a hernia and they are not and I am told it is merely cosmetic. It could be corrected through surgery but there is always a risk in doing surgery.
