Their digesting the hay generates heat & helps keep them warm, they do burn (use up) more calories in cold weather. Even in So Calif we get down into the 20s at night & have very cold winds day & night in our Pass area of So Cal. If I didn't feed a little extra, my 2 would lose weight.
