Wow, Brigid. I had not thought about this in the way you described. It hit me
because a good part of my identity for a couple of years while I searched for
a Fjord was being a Fjord person. But people couldn't see that. I didn't have
a horse or Fjord-embossed clothing. They treated me simply as a groupie (I
tell a story about this in Riding Horseback in Purple, which still sticks in
my mind).

I have often imagined what it would be like if my mare died (she hopefully
still has a couple of decades but I feel I need that long to prepare).

Glad you posted and yes, this is a wonderful community where people have
helped me learn so much. I spend more time on facebook now as there is more
activity there, and I continue to be amazed by how small the international
Fjord community is. If it is of any help, you are absolutely a Fjord Girl to
me and probably thousands of others.
