Well.... There is no trick - just bad documentation reading ;)
I (mis)understood from one of the posting that test-swf would output both artifacts release AND test. Now, I see that this is not the case. So, now I have two goals compile-swf AND test-swf and everything works fine. But apparently my misunderstanding was complemented by strange behavior of flex-mojos in case that a pom includes the test-swf as the only goal. In my opinion, then it also should generate the test swf only and nothing else. In fact, it also generates a very small version of the release artifact. This kind of lead me on the wrong track while searching for the error. Might be interesting to check out where the mini release swf comes from? But besides, I am happy now - thanks for your very quick comments.
