Perhaps the Maven dependency plugin will help you: http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-dependency-plugin/usage.html I think the dependency:resolve-plugins mojo could help you find out what's going wrong. I guess you will find that in the flexmojos of flex compiler tree you will probably find a reference to xalan together with a note that the version was overriden by something.
