I can´t agree with you.  Just take a look on the styles of
ColumnSeries in
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/langref/mx/charts/series/ColumnSeries.html
-> itemRenderer="BoxItemRenderer"

I want a reference of the SERIES itemRenderer, not the charts one.
