Actually its enough to just put the name of the class somewhere:
 
import myPackage.MyClass;
 
private function _imNeverCalled():void
{
   MyClass;
};
 
Another way is to use the 'include-libraries' option to force the compiler to compile a certain set of classes. In that case you do not need to refer the class in your code.
