Hi All,
Recent excitment with the Winmor project has been the recent catayst for
looking once again closely at latencies & syncing with data traffic and so
whilst ruinning 2 gateways in our region full time with many beta testers
watching connects from myself and others we have observed the following;
When using SDR (like pactor) I have kept the buffers both in driver and DSP at
512. Usually the connects are 1st time however during the connection at a
random time the ack frames become shortened or truncated hence the data frames
are damaged and the connection is lost.
What we have found using "hit and miss" experimentation is by restarting the
Psdr console "off then on" for one second or more during the symptom described
above, the synchronization for the PTT and Audio becomes re-aligned and
consequently they renegotiate and the connection is saved. Should the power
"off and on" remedy not be actioned completion of the transfer cannot be
processed resulting in both stations simply calling it quits.
Observations would indicate an audio truncation with the PTT timing. Having a
VOX selection on the VAC in Digi U/L mode may create a workaround but a
solution to the underlying PTT & Audio alignment problem would place our SDR's
"up there" with the real time radios thwarting the SDR latency critics. With
the help of Les Keppie VK2DSG we have been trying to solve the ARQ mystery.
Any help here Gentlemen is very much appreciated.
