There is a problem they are working on for the firewire driver. It is
triggered by high deferred procedure call latency (DPC). You can open the
Flex firewire driver and enable the DPC monitoring function. I bet that,
when you start to get distortion you are getting a high DPC spike. Since it
seems to be triggered by video activity there is a chance that your graphics
controllers and the firewire interface are sharing an interrupt. You should
probably go back through the archives of this list looking for discussion of
DPCs. There have been a lot. If you solve the high DPC problem in your
computer, the distortion problem should go away.
