Bill,

Welcome to the club!

Since PowerSDR 2.0 is not officially released, there is not a lot of info on it
in the KB. As a standard practice, the info in the KB is reserved for released
software and hardware since alpha and beta software is usually in a constant
state of change. The "early release" KB articles are of features that feature
complete and can be documented without fear of them changing.

When PowerSDR v2.0 is officially released, there will be release notes that
will list the changes, and that too will be available from the Knowledge Base.

Your FLEX-5000 is affectionately call the "Ruby Edition" since it has the red
LED power switch. Early models of the FLEX-5000 which had the blue LED are the
"Sapphire Edition".

A while back, production of the FLEX-5000 ground to a halt because one
component was on extended backorder and if you are one part shy, you can build
or ship a radio. You guessed it, the blue LED power switch was the backordered
component. Since the red LED power switch was available and was not subject to
periodic long term backorders, FlexRadio did an ECO change and started
manufacturing the radio with red LED power switches. I suspect thy would tell
you where they sourced the blue LED and you could swap it out yourself if that
is something you really wanted to do.

Subject: [FlexEdge] a new 5k owners ??

As a new F5k owner, who is still blown away by this rig. I'm wondering if there
is some place in the knowledge base, that tells the difference between the old
PSDR and version 2? And with the cool blue coming from the radio, why the
bright red on the switch. Definitely not color coordinated. How can I get a
blue switch? Thanks...Bill N8VWI
