My sdr-1000 woke up the next morning working again. I tested the
at100proII at power levels at or below one Watt and it did fine. I'll
report on results with the 1500 when it arrives. The only problem was
a complaint from my wife that I was again setting off the lights in
one of her cabinets that has a touch sensor. One Watt on 20m to a
dipole one the roof :-(

I'll pile on. I use the LDG Z-11 (oldest version) with the
FLEX-1500 and it works fine in AUTO mode. I run between 1w and 5w
depending on the mood.

Graham and others,
In preparation for using with my new 1500 (just shipped today), I
was testing an LDG at100proII tuner on one of my fully loaded
sdr-1000's. Each band I went to, I lowered the power output to 10
watts with the internal tuner off. Started at 40m then
20 and all was ok. The LDG box auto tuned perfectly. I then raised
the power to 75 w out and all was fine.
I then went to 18 MHz and forgot to drop the power from the default
setting. When the LDG started to autotune, the sdr1000 stopped
putting out any power. It appears that I have blown the sdr1000
final since it did not have foldback power limiting
(I guess).
Reading the caveats in the new 1500 manual about a proper 50 ohm
load, I am concerned about how the 1500 will respond to an external
autotuner. Will I be ok in not lowering the output power each time
I autotune?
