Neither do I for the exact same reasons.

The only thing I do is update the memory configuration in the BIOS to match 
(not exceed) the RAM timings of the chips.  The BIOS "auto" mode is very 
conservative and will also de-rate the RAM speed too.  It was configuring my 
PC-1600 RAM as PC-1333.

I never figured the extra few percent of performance would be noticeable or 
worth the possible system instability.
So I don't over clock.

And if you overclock your PC, running Prime95 in stress test mode will tell you 
really quickly if you have pushed it too far.
