Digital modes (including CW) are in effect defined by the signals that appear at the RF frequencies. CW, for example, is defined as on/off transmissions at a single frequency. RTTY is alternating on/off transmissions on two frequencies, separated by a certain delta. So all of the USB/LSB configuration is an artifact of using an SSB transceiver to interface to a "digital modulator" program such as MIXW. Whether you set your xcvr to USB or LSB will depend on your particular xcvr and particular digital software.
DIGU and DIGL are needed because 3rd party software, written to interface through audio, may require one or the other in order to get the proper RF signals processed at the antenna. But I've never understood why there's a CWU and CWL instead of just CW... 73, /Jack On Wed, 2011-01-12 at 14:22 -0500, Drax Felton wrote: > I work digi-modes on the low bands all the time. > It's always USB down there too.
