I don't normally reply to non-technical messages on this list. However, I thought it may be worth sharing my CW experience. I own all three radios and here comes the disclaimer; I am an unpaid Flex fanboi. I have eight different SDR radios in my shack and run a 24 X 7 SDR radio experience for other hams: www.wb4mak.com .
CW is my primary operating mode and I saw an opportunity to improve the CW performance in PowerSDR and the hardware. Instead of publically sharing my concerns I worked privately with the outstanding leadership team at Flex to help make it better. I have been for a long time part of the Flex internal alpha code test team. I won't share how many revisions of code that several of us tested between 1.0.16 and 1.0.19 but it was a lot. We spent hundreds of hours testing every version, finding and reporting bugs, and then testing again. I can assure you, as a senior executive for a Fortune 50 company who supervises programmers, that the Flex programmers worked seven days a week at all hours of the day and night to make the software perform as intended. I am exceptionally thankful for their efforts and we are blessed with a great programming and leadership team at Flex. I am not trying to be boastful. I'm simply saying that I saw an issue and tried to constructively help fix it. Oh yes, my CW results are 48 hrs of continuous operation in last weekend's ARRL CW contest without rebooting the computer or restarting PowerSDR with zero issues. Now back to my normal occasional technical posting status. The amount of griping about "such a simple issue not working out of the box" where other radios worked fine, etc etc etc.... in my mind there should be a LOT of happy people now... correct? So, either people only speak up when they have a problem (myself included I guess since that is what this email is addressing LOL), or the CW issue has not gone away? All I see now is postings about problems... what about all the success stories? Where are the floods of "thank you" and "this is the best software release ever" and on and on I think we should be seeing? Come on people! If you are CW happy and you know, post a message!!
