I guess it depends on your point-of-view. I believe that the functionality
of VAC and VSPmgr *should* be an integral part of PowerSDR and I hope that
DI offers a better way to interface CODECs than VAC and provides a control
channel that is better than async serial. But that is just me.

Right now, if you want to experiment with the Hercules interface you have to
get the hacked version of PowerSDR. It means that there will be two versions
of PowerSDR floating around out there. If the Hercules interface were made a
part of the official release then that eliminates that problem. Certainly
VAC sets the precedent for that.

Well, the interface has to be built into PowerSDR thus requiring a specially
built version of PSDR to use the Hercules work surface. I would just like to
eliminate the duplication. The work is already done. If the author makes it
available to Flex then the only cost to them is a bit of QA to make sure it
isn't buggy.

No, not at all. I think the Hercules work surface is a great idea and I
think it merits consideration to become part of the standard release. If you
don't want it you don't have to use it, just like you don't have to use VAC
or DDutil if you don't want to. Still, the hooks are there.
