Time for me to chime in, which I don't do much. I've now spent some quality
time now with my FlexControl and will comment on several of these latest
posts and add some of my own in other threads. I think we still need some
work on the software, but this knob is showing great promise.

I agree with both of these. While an argument could be attempted to be made
to make steps based upon where you are tuned without rounding to nearest
rounded step, I'll argue that in 99.5% of the cases, operators use steps of
either 100 KHz or 250 KHz, which is apparent from where you find them in the
bands. This is just the normal practice. I can't think of a single
condition where I would be at perhaps a frequency ending in 198 and having
selected 100 Hz steps, where I want it to jump to 298 or 098. But even if
one wanted to do this for some inexplicable reason, it should be a button
you have to select in the software, but rounding should be the default.
Having it round will serve the majority. Why serve the minority first?
Doesn't sound very wise for sales. Leaves me scratching my head.

it will jump to the next highest whole number.

No, that really won't work if you are using the FlexControl as intended.
The key strokes <ctl><up arronw> will work ONLY if PowerSDR has the focus,
which defeats the main purpose of the FlexControl to begin with and the
reason many (most?) of us bought it. Normally, the focus will be with
logging software or digital software with the FlexControl maintaining its
lock on PowerSDR. Therefore, <ctl><up arrow> will do nothing under what I
would consider normal FlexControl operating conditions. And if I have to
click back in PowerSDR to be able to do this, I might as well make the
adjustment with the mouse to begin with.
