Ok thanks, not really a big fan of the DXLab family of programs either
but I guess I got to do what I got to do. BTW, I actually meant to post
this to the regular Flex list but maybe it is more appropriate here. In
any case, sorry for the bandwidth if it's in the wrong place.

I know of no way to get JT65-HF to read the radio frequency except by
using one of the programs available on the "Rig Control/PTT" tab of
the Configuration form. I'm like you, HRD is just too big but you can
use a small footprint program like DXLab Suites Commander. Set up a
virtual serial port pair from your radio to Commander and check the
Commander enable box on JT65-HF. It works fine here.
Maybe someone else has discovered a magic way of doing it.

Does anyone know how to make JT-65HF pick up the frequency info
from PowerSDR? I mentioned this on the JT-65HF group and someone
told me it could be done and the answer was in the Flexwiki but if
it's there, I can't find it.
I hope it doesn't involve using HRD or minideluxe because I'm
trying to get away from those programs. Is there a way?
