All,
Considering that the Windows 8 is out there for download, I would think
that if you install it into another partition and do a multiple boot, then
no harm or foul. The user would have to reinstall all of the other software
that supports PSDR, but if people test it now, then both Flex and the other
application developers will have time to develop their code to be
compatible with Windows 8. Windows 8 will be released by the end of this
year, like it or not, so it is a good time for official or unofficial
software testers start testing and seeing what breaks or what does not
break.
- It is a year away.
- Like all new OS's from Microsoft, it will be unsuitable for use prior
to them releasing Service Pack 1, making it more like 2 years away.
People forget that an OS is just a set of services that allow other
applications to run. In that, and in spite of the releases of Windows XP,
Vista, and 7, we still have not moved appreciably beyond the real
functionality provided by Windows 2000.
So, why rush? Let someone else suffer first.
Well I, for one, am glad that someone is stepping up to be the pioneer
that gets the arrows before I have to suffer. Isn't that what Beta's
are for.. Win8 may be month/years away but We/Flex may know where the
rough edges are when it gets here, thanks to the pioneers.
OTOH, the pioneers should not expect that Flex will resolve PSDR/Win8
issues before WIN8 is real.
