I've used my Flex-1500 with Dell Mini9: Intel Atom 1.6 GHz CPU, 1gb RAM, 20gb solid state disk drive 9 inch 1024x600 display, Windows XP SP3. If I turn off the WiFi, Bluetooth and all windows services it doesn't need it can run powerSDR with a third party application like FLDIGI. CPU usage is very high, but it works as long as you don't do anything else while the radio is in use. It works and makes for a nice, compact portable package, but I don't recommend it. The screen on the Dell Mini 9 is too small, and it cuts off the bottom portion of the PowerSDR display.
More recently I've been using a Dell XPS 1530: Intel Duo Core 2.4 GHz CPU, 4gb RAM, Windows 7/32 bit. It handles PowerSDR easily and the screen is much bigger. Not as portable as the Mini, but much better performance. If I hadn't already owned the Dell Mini, I would not have purchased it for use with the Flex-1500, I'd have looked for a laptop with at least a 1024x768 display and more memory.
