Brett,
I appreciate your trying to help, but do not find your setting useful.
I learned about the Gap hear It Inline module (made by BHI in England)
from K3 owners who hated listening to their K3 and its non-functional NR.
You see, on Mars nets, one doesn't turn off the radio and say "I'll see
if conditions are better tomorrow".
On Mars nets, they don't switch to another band/frequency unless there
truely is a massive failure to communicate on the assigned scheduled
frequency. On Mars nets one puts on headphones and perseveres.
Every typical HF transceiver has a NR button.
One presses it - and it works making people in the Mars net much more
readable through the noise.
I've used Icom 746pro, Icom 7200, Icom 7000, Kenwood TS590s, and they
have working NR.
In addition if there is an adjustment to the NR, it is a simple 1 to 10
value adjusting how hard the NR unit works.
Apparently only the Japanese and the English radio companies understand
how to implement NR.
What if Flex Radio were to manufacture a manual antenna tuner with 5
dials on.
If you don't get all 5 dials set right, you can't transmit due to high SWR.
Would you want such an antenna tuner?
Why does Flex Radio's NR have five values to adjust for NR?
I use my Kenwood TS590s all the time, and turn on the Flex 5000a
occasionally to see if it still works.
Anyways, I do not celebrate the Flex 6000 announcement, because it
likely means that the vast majority of effort will switch from making
the Flex 5000 the radio we thought we were buying into a reality, and
instead be working on making the Flex 6000 people are pre-ordering into
the radio those people think they are buying.
Enjoy,
Howard
P.S. I know I'll get some crank emails, but I always have my Delete button.

Hi Howard
I have changed the settings on my NR and it is much better (TO ME anyway).
Here are my settings if you want to give them a try, I had a K3 for a few
months I liked the NR and ANF filters and these settings were very close to
how the NR and ANF sounds on the K3.
Write down your original settings if you don't like the results these
settings give you.
Click on Setup, then DSP
NR
Taps: 40
Delay: 30
Gain: 15
Leak: 10
I also changed the "ANF" settings to my liking and here is what I like on my
Radio's.
ANF
Taps: 68
Delay: 60
Gain: 25
Leak: 1
I have my "Buffer Size" set for
Phone
RX: 4096
TX: 2048
CW
RX: 4096
Digital is at the defaults of 2048
IF you have to reset your Database then you will loose these settings and
they will go back to default's so you may want to save a Database.
Don't be afraid to play with the PowerSDR settings, it is a wonderful radio
and you really can't hurt anything.
I keep a Backup Database after each change I like so I can ALWAYS step
backward to the previous Database if something goes haywire.
73's and have a good evening
Bret

I am still waiting for a working NR in my PowerSDR for my Flex 5000.
I gave up some time ago and purchased a GAP Hear It In Line Module made by
BHI in England.
I suppose Flex moving on to making this new radio means Flex has given up on
making a working NR on the Flex 5000. The Flex 5000 must now be considered
a finished almost legacy product.
I hope the Flex 6000 owners will continue to always get free software
updates until this new unit has a working NR. Based on the Flex 5000, that
means.....probably never.
Other than the NR, the Flex 5000a has been an amazing radio.
Regards,
Howard
