I can't speak to issues with Win 8 or 64-bit but as far as parallel
cards go that work on WinXP, I'm using a card from StarTech.com labeled
"Single Port PCI IEEE-1284 Parallel Card."
The only config change needed was to insert the correct device address
(obtained from Device Manager, resources) into PowerSDR setup.
Can't recall where I obtained it - one of the usual online suspects.
Good luck,

Gentlemen: I’ve been running my SDR-1000 for a couple years using the old,
now unsupported, USB->parallel cable.
I’m having issues with intermittency. Sent my radio to FLEX and they say it
tests OK. They run the parallel cable (not USB).
Works for them ! Just not for me..
It could be a lot of things… sound card hardware, sound card software,
drivers, etc.
I had been successful running on Win 8 with late ver. Power SDR 2.3 5. Got
the USB driver working and everything …
So I’m starting over. I’ve gone back to PowerSDR ver 1.18.6 and Windows
XP. And the original Flex USB driver..
No good.. so far.
I want to try a parallel cable.. but my ‘modern’ dual core computer doesn’t
have the ‘full enchilada’ as regards the
Parallel port implementation. I’ve tried a fully enabled parallel cable.
No enchilada !
I’ve tried every choice on the ‘setup’ of the parallel port… nothing. L
Question: Which PCI bus parallel port card are any of you using
successfully ? Perhaps there is even an inexpensive one ?
Where did you get it ? Tiger ? Microcenter ?
Perhaps there is a FAQ I need to read ???
THANK YOU for any help you can give.
