So so much pain with the Prolific.   Every variation of the chip seems to
need a different driver and the market it flooded with clones that will not
work with the official drivers.  Stay well clear.

I use this site for any convertors I need.  They detail everything you need
to know including what chip they are based upon.

Personally, I would not purchase any USB to Serial adapter that uses the
Prolific chipset. Their drivers are a pain to work with.

I would only use devices that utilize the FTDI chipset
