I totally agree. With the ready availability of electronic storage available today there is no reason for dropping this very important phase of history into the bit bucket. I thoroughly enjoy going back and reading QST in the early days, on occasion. I would like to see Eric do just that. Over the past 5 months, many redirected pictures, audio files, Teamspeak files, .pdf's etc have been linked in which would be nice to download into the compendium and locally linked. I don't know how difficult it would be to do, but it would be a shame to lose it.

Teamspeak is a VoIP conferencing system I began hosting about last October. The client is free and available in Linux, and Windows versions. In essence it is like a worldwide 2 meter repeater for SDR owners. We are a bit blaze about it now but it has been witness to, and caused some very important 'firsts' in the recent history of the SDR. I will have a write up, and handouts for Dayton. I warn you it can be addictive!

Here is last night's (last Saturday now) Audio Recording, and in the signature of the message find info on how to get started.

On another note for consideration here now that we have it kicked off (thanks Bob) I sponsor the HTTP://Flex-Radio-Friends.net website as a complimentary web host for anyone interested in The SDR. I got it up and running, but my skill set and interest is not in webmastering. Fortunately Ken - N9VV is still hosting excellent SDR related content in a re-direct off the frame on my site. My main need for the site was its unlimited storage to store user contributed files as well as the large audio i/q and teamspeak files. This otherwise valuable resource is being wasted.

I would DEARLY love someone to volunteer to Webmaster this site and build it into something which is truly another fine SDR-1000 (or other SDR) resource. I will gladly hand over the keys and let someone else drive. I am using Frontpage to administer the site for the moment, however, it is Linux based, with any number of extensions and utilities. Anyone interested please contact me. You would surely be appreciated, and be making a major contribution. (BTW: It does suppor SQL and the old forum topics could probably be ported into a searchable database!)

Thanks

Eric - AA4SW

Why 'age them' off - will you ave to pay to keep them availale or ....

even better ...

how about 'package them up, say in just as a few large text files and zip them and lets us download the zips individually. Perhaps by month/quarter/year? We could even burn a local CD copy for save storage etc.
