Phil,

Uninstalled 114 and installed 222 per your excellent instructions and at all
works a dream. For the moment I just installed 1 pair, com4 and com5. Just
as an aside, it might be worth noting that the inf file can be edited with
any text editor, e.g. notepad.

With this build enabling multiple pairs of com ports you've got my neurons
firing: does having multiple com port pairs mean that I can have multiple
s/w programs communicating with PowerSDR, e.g. HRD and MixW running
simultaneously on different com port pairs? Now that would be a neat trick,
difficult if not impossible to realize with hardware rigs (if I'm not
mistaken, but I'm no expert). I also assume that this means that the CAT
setup of PowerSDR will need to be expanded to enable the multiple pairs from
its side?

Boy, screen real estate is going to become a serious premium if all this
materializes. Monitors are forever coming down in price, but anyone got a
heads-up on INEXPENSIVE graphics cards able to drive multiple monitors?

Just dreaming away...Thanks again,
Joe

Subject: [Flexradio] Announcement: Build 222 of the vCOM Virtual Serial
PortDriver now available + new features

Hello all,

Build 222 of the vCOM Virtual Serial Port Driver (Virtual Null Modem
Cable?) is available at:

http://www.philcovington.com/SDR.html

Build 222 now allows you to create up to 10 pairs of virtual com
ports. To enable this I had to completely rewrite the AddDevice and
DeleteDevice functions of the driver and in the process I corrected
a nasty bug that caused problems when uninstalling and then
reinstalling the driver. Even if you do not need more than one pair
of virtual com ports it is worthwhile to upgrade to build 222 because
of the bug fixes.

By default the driver's inf file is set up to create one pair of
virtual com ports (COM4 and COM5 as before) just like build 114 did.
You can edit the inf file as described in the release notes to create
up to 10 virtual com port pairs if desired.

Please read (ALL) of the release notes on the webpage for June 22,
2005 before installing.
