Hello all.   Just found this link with instructions to check your video display and DirectX install to see if it is set up correctly to run DirectX as well as set up 3D Device object.   The utility is called dxdiag.exe. The instructions are at this link.   http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;191660   I ran the tool and found that I passed all tests. Preview 8 still does not work, but I think I have ruled out my video card, and version of DirectX as culprits.   73 Craig KC2LFI
