Lee:
THE PEAK power meter is a fiction. The only power meter that is not a
fiction or guesstimation is the Forward Power meter and only then when
the amplifier is in the box. The Forward Power Meter is the real power
meter then because it reads the A/D in the bridge in the amplifier.
If you have a QRP, 1 watt radio, all meters on TX are guestimations and
again, because there is no real sensor on the power.
PLEASE EVERYONE. Stop worrying about the PEAK power meter. Ignore it.
Stop using it. It is worthless and has been more trouble than I ever
would have believed possible.
If you want peak power readings, get an oscilloscope. Use the FORWARD
power meter and realize that it is an average power meter just like most
external power meters.

If the power meter is a fiction how does the amp set
up routine work, and what is the maximum power output
I should be seeing from the amplifier?
Thanks
