Hi John:

I think there are 2 areas right now that would assist Flex Radio SDR1K users
a great deal.

FRONT PANEL SETUPS:
Have an ability to save a front panel setting and recall it by name. This
would
let any of us save various settings and recall them at will and exchange
them
with one another as "observed" best settings for various modes, conditions,
etc.

AUTO-TWEAK
You set your SDR1K to a given band, given mode. Now shouldn't the radio
be able to measure a signal and, "knowing" what all current settings are set
to (front panel setup) and where previous best settings have been -
automatically
tweak, measure, tweak, measure to see if it can improve the signal to noise
and if it can, record the front panel settings and let us compare the 2
settings
of before auto-tweak and with auto-tweak? Is that the longest question in
the world?
I hope you get the idea. Software defined lets programmers pave the new
frontier.
Front panel setups make it democratic in that users can choose preferred
settings. Auto-Tweak lets the intelligence of the radio that is in the box
come
out of the box. When implemented and evolved a bit, the old timers will
comment
on how "real operators" used to make these kinds of adjustments all the time
based on what they heard and how well they knew their rigs. Now, the darn
things
figure it all out in real-time all by itself. Brave new world, brother hams.
