Bingo Tom,

BTW, if you click on the link near "html scrubbed"
then you douwnload readable HTML source, with some copy-paste
one can reconstruct the original text (without the special fonts)

Hopefully the 4th time is a charm. This is one more attempt to avoid the
HTML scrubber. Apparently, because I had a couple of fonts (because of
cut 'n paste), it took my posting as HTML. Thanks to Tim and Cecil for
the help. I apologize for the previous useless QRM postings.

As I understand, the 9-pin connector is NOT an RS232 serial port. The
principal communication protocol for FlexWire is a bi-directional 3-wire
SPI (signal+clock+gnd) that also has compatibility with Dallas/Maxim
one-wire. Some of the other pins support functions like PTT, Key, etc.

The official word on FlexWire is:

Perhaps one of the current beta-testers has actually used the connector
and can make some definitive comments (including the pin-outs).

BTW, breaking off a pin on a DB9M is pretty trivial. And a toothpick in
a DB9F is a fine blocker for an unused pin
