If you haven't yet confirmed proper operation of the front panel connector
on the Flex, I'd suggest checking the ribbon cable from the jack to the pc
board. When I got my F5K, I noticed that the Foster jack was a bit loose.
I found that either during shipping or because the jack twisted a bit when I
plugged in the mic, the ribbon cable came unplugged from the board.

I haven't checked the wiring of my Heil Classic/CC-1 combo, but after
reconnecting the ribbon cable, it does key the radio and produces sound,
however I'm having an audio problem that is best characterized as a rythmic
thumping. The thump's rate is variable with the audio card's sampling rate,
but only appears on 10 and 15 meters, and is not present when I use my Heil
Proset. The thump is still present when I use just the CC-1 adapter without
the mic hooked up. I was going to add some ferrite beads, but maybe a check
of the adapter's wiring is in order.
