The SDR1000 w/o pa would be a great SWL receiver too. I do listen often to international broacast stations and the audio from the SDR1000 is the best. It tops any receiver I have used. The numbers on the 5000 might be better but from a value vs performance it is hard to beat the SDR1000. Great to see so many for sale. Hi. Maarten N1DZ
