I use two LARGE sealed "wet" marine batteries in my shack. They now  run 
about $150 each, but are great. One is for the radios, the other for the  SGC. 
I 
have two 30 amp switching supplies that keep the batteries up. Keep the  amount 
of cable from the battery to the SGC short and your peak volts will stay  up 
and there wil be no faults..
