Hey, guys I have made a discovery, I had previously tried using an external keyer with the same crappy keying waveform that I get on the dots using the internal keyer.
Lo and behold, I moved the keying signal from the dot (tip) to the dash (ring) and the keying waveform is great. Don't have a clue yet about QSK, but at least I can now key a good cw waveform with the SDR-1000. So ..... :-! I guess I will keep it after all. Apparently the problem is in the dot circuitry ?? and not (noticebally, at least) in the dash circuitry. I still think the links in postings on the reflector need to be made to work, else delete the durned nearly useless (IMHO) archives.....
