Yes, you really should update. But it isn't mandatory unless you want to use PowerSDR 1.16.1
There are other fixes and enhancements with the firmware update that are not RX2 specific. See the firmware Release notes for more information. There are a bunch of PowerSDR fixes too. You can review the PowerSDR release notes here: http://kc.flex-radio.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50375.aspx The upgrade to fftw 3.2, better CW performance, an enhanced PA temperature indicator and the EEPROM checksums for greater data integrity are just a few of the new enhancements. There are a lot of bug fixes and existing feature "tweaks" too. One other reason. If you are having any issues and you are not using the latest firmware/PowerSDR the first troubleshooting step will be to upgrade. -Tim -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of David Donaldson Sent: Tuesday, December 02, 2008 7:52 PM To: Neal Campbell Cc: FlexRadio reflector Subject: Re: [Flexradio] RX2 adjustment - PowerSDR V 1.16.1 now available on Flex-Radio.com If we do not have RX2 installed is there any immediate need to update the firmware and SDR to 1.16.1. Currently using 1.14.0 and everything is running well. Means I will have to reset all my Mic settings again! 73, Dave YB0AJZ On Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 6:46 AM, Neal Campbell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > There are burnin issues with any phased delivery of functionality as > large as RX2.
