RST is subjective and not particularly meaningful anyway. If you think about it, if the signal is strong enough for you to get the information in the exchange without any repeats, that merits a "5" in readability. Strength is really S:N. Once it gets past a certain threshold, it may as well be a "9". Tone doesn't mean jack anymore as, other than poor pulse shaping, CW is going to be a pure carrier.

So, it doesn't really matter in a contest, does it.

Now that we have lab-grade receivers with the Flex radios, I would love to get real signal reports from people, e.g. "UR SIG -92DBM IMD -20DB HR OM." But maybe not during a contest. :-)
