Hi all, I think I may of found the problem. Just for giggles I installed the new firewire driver and ver 1.18.3 on my laptop (Toshiba, Duel core Intell, 1 gig of RAM), it works and I do not have to reboot after turning the PSDRA es rig off. Works like a champ. Guess it might be the firewire card! I am going to replace it and see if that helps!
